THE OGHAM

This name stands for the holy alphabet, the 20 tree letters of the druids.
It was not created for writing long texts but for magical and religious purposes.

The ogham consists of vertical and italic lines which sit on one horizontal line.
 


 
Every letter is assigned to a tree, but we have to discriminate between the so-called religious ogham and the normal ogham which is the newer one. The succession of the first and original one bases on the spiritual attitudes and energy patterns of the trees while the last one depends on the rank order of the trees after the Cad Goddeu (The battle of trees, Celtic mythology)
 

THE RELIGIOUS OGHAM

This is the original alphabet which was created for magickal and religious purposes. It has always been used by the ancient priests and druids.

THE NORMAL OGHAM

With the Battle Of Trees a new ogham was made, but it is not as important and mighty as the original one, although it would be better for using trees in a war of a different kind.
